heartbase reports can also be developed through Structural Query Language (SQL) and Procedural Query Language (PQL).
Users can easily import export
data to many software packages, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access,SAS, SIR/Easy, and many other software packages. With this powerful
set of tools for reporting, virtually any report can be produced. A particularly
noteworthy feature is our enhanced abstracting and patient level reporting which provides production of referring physician reports and abstracts for
medical records. User-developed reports can be added to the heartbase menu system providing transparent access.
Optional Modules
Optional modules are available to further enhance the capabilities of the heartbase Base System. Modules are jointly developed with the expertise of clinicians from
hospitals and clinics across the country. As a truly integrated data model, heartbase combines all individual databases, whether they are registries (ie., ACC, STS,
Anthem, Ascension, etc.) or additional modules (ie., EP, MI, Inventory,etc.) into a single database design. Only one log-on is necessary to gain access to data entry,
report writing and editing functions for all data. This unique feature is the foundation for providing the user with a comprehensive outcomes
database for reporting and statistical analysis. All optional modules, as part of the integrated data model, have the same standard reporting features available
through numerous heartbase options including, but not limited to, SPSS, SIREASY, plus exporting capabilities to many other software programs.
ICD Module The heartbase® ACC-NCDR ICD Optional Module was designed to meet the requirements for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and is based on the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and American Heart Association's electrophysiology standards. Fields for these standards include patient characteristics, device types, extent of disease progression and patient outcome.
The heartbase® ACC-NCDR ICD Module may be purchased separately or in combination with our Electrophysiology module. Both modules together provide a full cadre of Electrophysiology data which can be utilized to fulfill CMS requirements and reporting needs within your institution.
Thoracic Module Fully certified, the heartbase STS Thoracic module is affordable and fully integrates into STS Adult Cardiac Surgery database and incorporates information from demographic, hospitalization, and clinical presentation interfaces.
Op-Notes Narrative Reporting Customized for each facility and automatically generated within the heartbase database, the Open Heart and Vascular Surgery narrative report includes patient informatoin and provides a detailed description of the procedures performed and findings and a precise image of patient's coronary tree with grafts. The interface with the transcription system provides the option of supplementing the reprot and additional dictation. OR procedure datea can be entered by the attending sureon or perfusionist and once entered, the report resides in the patient's permanent chart record. Graft definitions utilize the STS data harvest field definiations and the heartbase screen variables translate into sentences and paragraphs, once language and context has been customized by the surgeon. Op-Notes save approximately 25 minutes of dictation time per physician.
Electrophysiology The Electrophysiology module provides users with database capabilities for the following diagnostic and therapeutic procedures: EPS,
Tilt Table, Cardioversion, Non-invasive ICD checks, Ablation, ICD and pacemaker insertions. Patient history and complications/outcomes information is collected s
surrounding these procedures as well. In addition, procedural indications, medications, anesthesia and device data are just a few of the core elements that allow
you the ability to track detailed information about these procedures.
Advanced Non-Invasive Test The Advanced Non-Invasive
Test Module significantly expands the features of the Basic Non-Invasive Test Module offered with the Base System. The Advanced Non-Invasive Test Module provides users with advanced database
capabilities for Resting/Stress/Adenosine Nuclear Tests, Resting/Stress Echo Tests, Resting EKG Tests, Exercise Stress Tests, and MUGA Tests. Along with advanced
recording of test data, general report design options are available plus instant test reports for patients and referring physicians.
MI The MI Module provides users with a comprehensive data set that compliments either the ACC or STS modules for patients
experiencing MI. The data set has been developed in accordance with NRMI. It includes, but not limited to, time to treatment, initial reperfusion strategy and
clinical events detail to assist in effectively tracking and managing this patient population.
CHF The CHF Module
provides users with the ability to follow CHF patients starting with the initial diagnosis of the disease, past history, diagnostic testing and treatment
modalities. A detailed medication and infusion therapy section allows the clinician to adjust medications accordingly. All encounters, office visits and
hospitalizations can be captured to assist in effectively managing this patient population. In addition, transplantation status is recorded with each encounter.
Peripheral Vascular The Peripheral Vascular Module provides users with a complete data set to collect detailed procedure and outcomes
information on a variety of Peripheral Vascular procedures including Carotid, AAA, Cerebral, Upper and Lower Extremity Bypass to name a few.
Transplant The Transplant Module provides users with an overview of patient history, detailed surgical transplantation
data and complications/outcomes information to assist in successfully building and maintaining a high-level transplant program.
Oryx® Core Measures Including: Acute Myocardial Infarction(AMI), Pneumonia(PNE), Pregnancy (PR), Heart Failure-Clinical/Hospitalization(HF),
Surgical Care Improvement Program(SCIP/SIP), Children's Asthma Care(CAC), Hospital Based Psychiatric Services(Pending) and National Consensus Standards
for Prevention and Care of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE)(Pending).
Inventory The Inventory Module provides users with all the capabilities needed to administer equipment in the cardiac environment.
Along with inventory accounting and controls, the system features hand scanning of barcodes, automatic purchase order generation and linkage to patient data in
heartbase enabling the allocation of equipment associated with each procedure. The Inventory Module utilizes Microsoft Access to process the scanned barcode data
files, generate manual and automatic purchase orders and produce special reports.
Beat-Our cardiac children's hero!Pediatric/Congenital To accommodate the growing need to clinically track Congenital/Pediatric Cardiac Patient (PED) procedures,
heartbase has created the PED Optional Module. Users of the PED Module can create a complete patient record, while eliminating data redundancy of other systems
that are procedure-based. Data related to these procedures co-exist with all related heartbase system components.
Interfacing the PED Optional Module to hospital admitting systems results in a significant reduction in manual data entry requirements.
Existing feeds can be used to add data into the heartbase PED Optional Module with little modification.

recognition software and scanning hardware, heartbase provides a proven method to attain the highest quality in data input. Scanning eliminates up to 80% of
keystrokes, doesn't require any additional FTE expense, plus it produces a much higher quality data input file. Based on Teleform from Cardiff Software,
users can capture data via handprint(ICR), machines print(OCR), check marks(OMR), bubbles and bar codes.
Through the heartbase interface, automatically

Registry Frequencies - A Significant Enhancement for Registry Reporting!
Registry Frequencies, is a significant enhancement in the area of Registry Reporting and data quality control
to the heartbase clinical database system. With heartbase's new Registry Frequencies, users are given menu access to automatically generate
frequency statistics for the entire STS and ACC core datasets or individually selected subsets from the user's production databases. The user simply
enters the data range desired and frequency reports for the STS and/or ACC core datasets are generated from their heartbase
production databases and displayed.
More specifically, with Registry Frequencies, heartbase users are able to select some or all of the STS and/or
ACC core datasets for any given date range to automatically generate patient specific and summary frequencies of the variables selected. Users are then better
able to check registry data for quality on a daily basis and in advance of harvests for the ACC and STS National Registries.
SPSS Registry Retrievals!
SPSS Registry Retrievals, which is a significant enhancement in the area of data mining and reporting to the heartbase clinical database system.
With heartbase SPSS Registry Retrievals. users are given menu access to five separate queries that retrieve the entire STS and ACC core datasets from user's
production databases. The user simply enters the date range desired and the STS and/or ACC core datasets are retrieved from their heartbase production databases
and displayed in SPSS for generating reports and statistical analysis.
SPSS is a comprehensive system for analyzing data from heartbase's strategic
partner, SPSS, Inc, whose world headquarters are in Chicago's Sears Tower. The
heartbase system includes SPSS as the official reporting and data analysis tool.
DV Query - heartbase Query Tool! DVQuery is available for use with the heartbase cardiac database software and is "the perfect complement to the SPSS analytic software package" now being widely used by heartbase clients. Please contact heartbase

Inventory Module! heartbase has entered into an agreement
with Videx, Inc. of Corvallis, Oregon to integrate Videx's complete line of hand-held
scanning devices into heartbase's Inventory Module. Users of the Inventory Module currently use Videx LaserLite Pro hand scanners to scan nurse, number, patient
medical record numbers,
primary operators/cath operators/surgeons, procedure type, procedure date and time, room ID and all equipment used for each cardiac procedure. Up to a dozen
Videx LaserLite Pros are downloaded each day into the Inventory Module to update the database and generate accurate patient equipment reports for clinical,
billing and administrative requirements.Our inventory module provides users with all capabilities needed to administer equipment in the cardiac environment.
Along with inventory accounting and controls, the system features hand scanning of bar codes, automatic purchase order generation and linkage to patient data in

Advanced Non-Invasive Testing Module!
heartbase developers and a board-certified cardiologist from a leading certified, non-invasive testing cardiology
practice in Philadelphia, designed our Advanced Non-Invasive Test Module providing users with advanced database capabilities for resting/stress/adenosine
nuclear tests, resting/stress echo tests, resting EKG tests, exercise stress tests and MUGA tests.
Along with advanced recording of test data,
the module creates real time test reports in Microsoft Word format that is sent to referring physicians, normally prior to the patient leaving the testing lab.
Other useful reports include test type by referring physician by month, nuclear test protocol by month and test type by referring practices by month.
Since the Advanced Non-Invasive Testing Module is fully integrated into the heartbase system, testing data may be manually entered into the system through the
well-designed graphical user interface forms, interfaces with other software systems used by the non-invasive testing facility, Optiform scan forms or hand-held
computing devices, such as Palm Pilot. Also, users may effortlessly transfer non-invasive test results to the patient's ACC and/or STS datasets and use diagnostic
catherization results in correlating data with non-invasive testing data. These correlations may be conducted in SPSS, since
heartbase is the only cardiac care database system that exports data in native SPSS format.
