We need both ACC & STS core data sets, plus we need the flexibility to modify the database by adding our own fields if necessary.

plus other disease state management components, will fully integrate with existing data. Simply put, there is a single record (one log-on) for each patient.
Through this log-on, every event over the entire life span of that person is available to view and/or to analyze. Even when that may encompass literally thousands
of data elements, heartbase is designed to handle it effectively and efficiently.
In addition, heartbase is an open system that allows the user to add or modify fields with the exception of the registry
data elements. heartbase also has special "studies fields" to allow the user to define data elements to be captured for shorter-term projects.
Can we purchase just ACC or STS, then add the other later?
Yes, heartbase sells either ACC or STS in standalone or multi-user network versions. Other registries and optional modules can be added and integrated
at any time.
How do we eliminate redundant data entry?
heartbase has extensive experience with interfaces to existing hospital systems, such as hemodynamic monitoring, admission/discharge/transfer and financial systems.
heartbase also utilizes Tablet PCs for data collection. Once data is gathered, the Tablet is simply synchronized with the database through an interface. If
data exists or is collected in some other hospital system, there is no need to rekey that information because the interface eliminates redundant data entry.
Outcomes reporting is critical to our service. How does heartbase handle report writing? Does heartbase include "canned" reports?
Through a strategic alliance with SPSS, heartbase now offers SPSS in various configurations as the default report generation and report writing tool for heartbase users.
heartbase provides a full range of ACC and STS standard reports, including 50+ user-modifiable templates (as opposed to "canned" non-modifiable reports) plus ad hoc report
creation by users. SPSS is the leader in desktop analytical software and is used throughout the healthcare industry. SPSS offers tools to help your entire organization
improve its quality of care. With powerful statistical capabilities, SPSS will enable thorough and accurate analysis of your heartbase data.
heartbase reports can also
be developed through Structural Query Language (SQL) and Procedural Query Language (PQL).
Users can easily export data to many software packages such as
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SAS and SIR Easy, among others. With this powerful set of tools for reporting, virtually any report can be produced.
A particularly noteworthy feature is our enhanced abstracting and patient level reporting which provides production of referring physician reports and
abstracts for medical records. User-developed reports can be added to the heartbase menu system providing transparent access.
Our organization has numerous personnel in several departments that require access to a cardiac database. How does heartbase handle this
type of environment?
heartbase is available in a variety of concurrent (simultaneous) user license levels. These range from single user systems to over 20+ multi-user, multi-location environments.
Who provides the hardware and what are the requirements for running heartbase?
Customers provide all necessary hardware. heartbase does not require its own server and may co-reside on an existing server. However, should a separate server be
desired, the requirements for a single user or multi-user environment are available upon request.
Does heartbase support User Groups?
Yes. heartbase holds an annual User's Conference which includes presenters from the user community, as well as industry experts in clinical information
management. Inquiries have been received regarding forming regional heartbase user groups and heartbase fully intends to support any efforts with sharing
heartbase ideas.
How long is the heartbase installation process?
Project implementation timelines are developed to assist both parties in the installation process. Typically, a normal installation can be done as quickly
as the client would like it installed. In certain cases the number of interfaces, existing equipment, historical data conversion, requested customization play a
factor in determining the final installation date.
